Background:
Eight (8) former members of parliament Dr.Getrude Mongela, Dr. Aisha Kigoda, Dr. Batilda Burian, Mrs. Teddy Kasella Bantu, Mrs.Esterina Kilasi, Mrs. Joyce Masunga, Mrs. Severina Mwaijage and Mrs. Monica Mbega formed Women Economic Empowerment Company Limited (WEECO) in April 2011 to put into action their great leadership abilities, professional skills, and experiences this time not in the public sector but as key active stakeholders in the private sector in Tanzania.
WEECO is therefore a private limited company registered under Companies Act 2002 holding Tax Identification Number (TIN) 112-963-073. It is a diversified company with licences to carry on businesses as business consultant, Information technology service provider, provider of catering services, cleaning services and a general supplier. In joint venture with other reputable companies, WEECO carries contracting works of land development and construction of buildings.
WEECO is also an agent for Vodacom MPESA and TIGO Pesa.
